Team SCARLET Wins Connect & Innovate Awards

February 2024 – At the FIRST Tech Challenge regional qualifiers, Team SCARLET brought home two major awards in one season. We earned the Connect Award for our outstanding community outreach and partnership efforts (the judges loved how we mentor younger students and engage with local STEM groups).

We also received the Innovate Award (sponsored by Raytheon Technologies) for the creative engineering on our robot[24]. These awards were a huge honor and a testament to our students’ hard work. Local news outlets and SR1’s newsletter featured our win, calling Team SCARLET “one of Mississippi’s rising STEM stars.” We couldn’t agree more!
